For fans of Batman: The Animated Series, Static Shock, and Justice League Unlimited (JLU), DCAU stands for DC Animated Universe. Also known as the Timmverse, the DCAU consists of the many animated shows, shorts, and tie-ins that take place in the continuity established by 1992's Batman: The Animated Series (or BTAS).
From the years 1992 to 2006, various cartoons starring DC superheroes aired on Fox Kids, Kids' WB, and Cartoon Network. Nearly all of these shows were produced or co-produced by Bruce Timm, and eventually, Timm and his collaborators began tying the shows together via crossovers and shared continuity.
This culminated in 2004's Justice League Unlimited, a show which starred the same Batman and Superman that headlined Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series and included many references to other DCAU shows, such as Static Shock and Batman Beyond. These days, the DCAU is no longer the kids' television juggernaut that it once was, but it's still sometimes added to via original animated movies.
