IMD

What does IMD stand for?

In my dreams

Those who are fantasizing about something may use IMD to mean "in my dreams." For example, if you and your friend Rob are chatting about cars, he might say "IMD, I'd have a yellow Mustang Shelby GT350." This means that Rob really wants a Shelby GT350, but feels he's unlikely to ever own one. (Poor Rob.)

You might also see people use IMD in response to an idea you've shared, if they think that idea is both good and unlikely to ever occur. In these cases, IMD means "I'd love that, but it'll never happen."

Example

Yeah, sure, Rachel will go out with me ... IMD
Man, you gotta have more confidence than that
