Basebrawl

What is a basebrawl in baseball?

Baseball brawl

A basebrawl is when a fight breaks out during a baseball game. The term combines "baseball" and "brawl," and baseball analysts and fans are the likeliest to use it.

Basebrawls may occur for various reasons, including when a pitcher hits a batter with a pitch, when a runner slides in "too" hard to a base and defender, or when a batter celebrates too much after hitting a home run. For example, if the pitcher deems a batter's home run celly to be "excessive," he may yell at the batter, sometimes resulting in the batter charging the mound to fight the pitcher.

Since baseball is a team game, teammates feel the need to back up each other in these heated confrontations. This team mentality typically results in the benches and bullpens for both teams rushing onto the field, which may escalate the argument into a brawl.
