Curve

What does curve mean?

Reject

Curve means "Reject," and is typically used in the context of turning away someone's romantic advances. When you curve a person, you don't explicitly reject the person, instead, you just try to avoid their advances in a non-confrontational manner.

The term gained popularity in 2016 as a way to refer to when a person tries to let down someone who is romantically interested. Curve comes from the way a person moves around an object in his path to avoid hitting it.

A person may curve someone out of politeness or just out of fear of conflict. It is similar to "ghosting" but not as harsh. A prime example of curving is when a person doesn't answer romantic texts and instead changes the subject.

Example

Billy keeps curving Kristen and she doesn't even realize it
Yeah, it's pretty pathetic
When you are always getting curved
