Shelled

What does shelled mean?

Beaten badly

A term used in the context of competition to describe a vicious beatdown of another player.

The term is often used when a pitcher gives up a lot of runs to a team in baseball, most likely through home runs. It comes from being "shell shocked," which is a helpless reaction to encountering a surprising and traumatic blow.
