An "ussie" is a variation of selfie that includes two or more people in the self-taken picture. The name comes from "self" being turned into "us" to refer to the multiple subjects in the pic.
People often take ussies when they want to capture a moment but don't have a willing and able volunteer to take the picture. While they could set the camera up with a timer, they instead hold out the camera (typically a smartphone camera) at arm's length and take a photo of themselves.
Ussies became popular in the early 2010s due to the rise of smartphones and social media. However, the term is not as popular as "selfie," which people predominantly use for self-taken pics regardless of the number of people in them.
