Bout is a common way to shorten "about" in person, online, and in messages. While it only removes one character, it reflects the verbal abbreviation many people use (they soften or drop the "a") to remove a syllable (especially handy when rhyming in songs).
For example, your friend may text you when the party is going to start and you respond with, "Bout 10. Don't be late." Or, you might describe a time when you were mad saying, "I looked at him and said, 'I'm bout to whoop your behind if you don't get back in the car'."
