What does bush league mean?

Amateur play

A sports slang term that refers to amateur, unprofessional play or behavior by an athlete.

The term is commonly used in baseball and originated from small town minor league teams that provided inferior play compared to the major league. Even though it is mainly used in baseball and other sports, it may also be used to describe other mediocre or subpar performances in theater or office environments. Bush league is often referred to as just bush, as well.
