BYOD

What does BYOD stand for in education?

Bring your own device

In educational and tech settings, BYOD stands for "bring your own device." If you see this acronym included in a syllabus or event listing, you'll want to bring your PC, laptop, tablet, or other applicable electronic device to that event.

For example, if a friend who invited you to a LAN party tells you to BYOD, you'll want to bring your PC to the party. Or, if your child's school has a BYOD policy, you may have to purchase a laptop or tablet for your child to use in class.
