Cannon

In sports, when a person has a cannon, they can throw something, typically a ball, a long length. For example, a QB has a cannon if he can throw a football 80 yards.

The term comes from a literal cannon, which can launch projectiles a long way. Sports analysts and fans adopted it and began using it in telecasts and highlights in the 1990s. Some sports in which you may see or hear cannon include football and baseball.
