What does cosplay mean?

Cosplay is when people wear costumes and accessories to embody a character for role-playing purposes. It commonly occurs during fan conventions where a large amount of dedicated cosplayers gather in one location and recreate the fictional world that they enjoy so much.

Cosplay is popular in Japan and often centers around anime and comic book conventions. Comic Con is the most famous fan convention in the U.S. It takes place in a variety of cities around the country but the most popular one is held in San Diego, CA.
