A fanboy is a dedicated male fan who exhibits an intense passion and enthusiasm for a particular sports team, celebrity, movie franchise, or other pop culture phenomenon. You will often find fanboys surrounded by an extensive collection of memorabilia (jerseys, autographs, etc.), fully immersing themselves and showing unwavering loyalty. Some even take their devotion to the next level by dressing up in cosplay or costumes related to their interests.
The term "fanboy" gained popularity in the 2000s with the rise of blockbuster comic book movies (MCU and DCU), gaming culture, and social media. While fanboys are typically men, women can be equally devoted fans and are often referred to as "fangirls," together comprising a "fandom."
