Crash is a popular term for when you are so exhausted that you fall asleep within seconds of closing your eyes. Typical reasons for crashing come from a long work day, an all-nighter with a newborn, or too much fun in the sun.
The term is similar to when a computer crashes, which is when it abruptly shuts off due to an operating system error. People usually crash when they go horizontal in some way, whether it be laying in bed, on a couch, or in a chair.
