Eco-dumping is a dating trend where a person breaks up with someone because of their conflicting views on the environment. For example, a person may eco-dump her boyfriend because he drives a gas-guzzling pickup truck and thinks recycling is pointless.
As Gen Zers have become eco-conscious in the 2010s, they have added the trait to the list of attributes they desire in a potential romantic partner. And if a potential mate doesn't share the same eco-values, they eco-dump them.
While eco-dumping typically occurs because the partner does not value the environment, a person may eco-dump their partner because they care TOO much about the environment. However, this is much less common.
