Finessing

What does finessing mean?

Tricking someone into giving you something

Finessing someone means to trick that person into giving you something you want. It may take the form of smooth-talking, a clever scam, or an outright lie. Whatever their methods, finessers skillfully manipulate people to get what they want.

While some might consider finessing a form of stealing, it usually isn't. Instead, a finesser convinces their target to willingly give them the thing they want. At times, a finesser might not deliver on a promise made while finessing. But to the finesser, that's part of the game, and the target should know better than to trust other people.

Example

Can't believe you're gonna give Carl that money. He's just finessing you
A finesser's (poor) outlook on life
