A term that refers to making changes to a computer system, hardware, software, or a video game.

The term is most often used in reference to illegally breaking into a computer, whether it be a network, software, or hardware. When used in this context the term is very negative.

When used in relation to video games, hacking is when a person cheats at a game to gain an unfair advantage. Although it's not good sportsmanship, it's not as serious as computer hacking.
