Lethal

What does lethal mean?

A game-ending amount of damage

Magic: The Gathering (MTG) and Hearthstone players say they "have lethal" when they can deal a game-ending amount of damage to their opponent. In these games, players (typically) win by reducing their opponent's health to 0, thereby "killing" them.

When a player says they have lethal "on board," it means they can deal lethal damage using cards already in play. When a player says they have lethal "in hand," it means they can deal lethal damage by playing one or more of the cards in their hand.
