People use LTM (and laugh to themselves) in situations in which LOLing would be inappropriate. For example, if you send your friend a funny video while they're at work, they may respond with "LTM."
Don't worry - this doesn't mean your friend thinks the video you sent isn't funny. It just means they don't want to distract their co-workers (and/or draw attention to the fact they're watching funny videos at work).
