Sysop

Sysop is an abbreviation for "system operator," which is the individual responsible for the operations of a system, such as a computer network, electrical power grid, etc. A sysop performs various duties depending on the system they oversee, but one of their main priorities is ensuring the system functions effectively.

You may see sysop in the IT world where a person monitors the performance of a network, similar to a system administrator (sysadmin). In this case, they may monitor chat sessions (like a mod), manage users' security settings, and troubleshoot other issues.
