Someone who sends you WAM in online chat needs you to "wait a minute." So you'll just have to chillax for a bit, while the person you're chatting with takes care of whatever task needs their attention.
Most often, people send WAM when they need to go AFK for a moment, to deal with something IRL. For example, if a friend's delivery food order just arrived, they may send "WAM, got to go pay the delivery person," before stepping away to grab their grub.
