WYD

1. What does WYD stand for?

What you doing?

When a person sends you "WYD" in a message, they are asking about what you are doing. It's the same as, "what's up?" or "what are you up to?"

For example, a person may text "WYD rn" to someone they romantically like on a Friday night when they have nothing to do. Or, a friend may message another friend "WYD on Thursday nite?" when inviting them to a game.

Example

2. What does WYD mean in competition?

Who's your daddy?

When you dominate someone (or something) like a dad dominates a little child in a game, sport, etc, you become their "daddy." Then, you can message them "WYD," to boast about your dominance and their inferiority.

For example, if you beat your friend in a game online, you might message them, "pwnd! wyd, bb gurl?!? Or, you might boast about doing well on a test, "wyd, prof jameson! I dommed that final!"

WYD is one of many ways you can brag about something and taunt people. Other examples include KMB, LL, booyah, owned, and "take the L."
