CF
Center field
In baseball, "CF" stands for center field, one of the three outfield positions. It is located in the middle of the outfield, between the left field (LF) and right field (RF).
The center fielder (CF) is responsible for covering a large area of the field, often requiring speed, agility, and strong defensive skills for catching fly balls, preventing extra-base hits, throwing out runners, and backing up the other outfielders on plays. The center field position is often considered the "captain" of the outfield, responsible for communicating with the left and right fielders to avoid collisions and ensure proper coverage.
You’ll often see "CF" listed next to players' names in various baseball contexts, such as team lineups, player statistics, and fantasy and video game baseball rosters. CF helps fans and analysts quickly identify which players are handling the center field duties in any given game.
