Gamers use CoD to refer to Call of Duty - a popular series of military-focused FPS video games. The first version of CoD was released in 2003 and set in World War II. Some subsequent releases, including Modern Warfare and Black Ops, have been set in more modern eras.
While most CoD games include a single-player mode, the series is most well-known for allowing players to play with and against each other, both locally and online. As of April 2021, the CoD franchise had sold over 400 million copies.
