Covfefe is a misspelling of "coverage." It became a trending topic on Twitter when Donald Trump tweeted "Despite the constant negative press covfefe" on Wednesday May 31, 2017.
The tweet was sent out late at night/early morning (12:06 AM EST) leading some to explain the misspelling was just him being tired. Others believe he was simply too lazy to correct the error or trolling his many adversaries. Regardless, countless memes and tweets circulated Twitter making fun of the mistweet accompanied by #covfefe. The term has been added to the growing list of Trumpisms.
The gaffe was so well known that is was used for a bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2017. Mike Quigley (Illinois Democrat) introduced the Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically for Engagement (COVFEFE) Act to preserve Twitter post and any other social media activity involving the POTUS.
