What does FFX mean in gaming?

Final Fantasy X

Gamers use FFX as shorthand for Final Fantasy X. This popular RPG is the tenth entry in the Final Fantasy (FF) series. Square initially released FFX for the PS2 in 2001. The game has since been ported to additional platforms, including Windows, the Nintendo Switch, and the PS4.

In FFX, players take on the role of Tidus, an athlete who is pulled into the world of Spira to help defeat a great evil known as Sin. Tidus joins the summoner Yuna and her allies in their quest to end Sin's cycle of death, destruction, and rebirth. (He also plays a lot of a fictional sport called blitzball.)

FFX remains one of the best and most popular Final Fantasy games, with over 21.1 million copies sold. It is also one of the few FF games that received a direct sequel, which is named FFX-2.
