A gaming acronym that represents the amount of health a character has.

The acronym commonly appears in video games, as well as role-playing games. If the character loses all HP, the character loses a life or it may end the game. The acronym also stands for "hit points."

HP means Harry Potter. It is a book and movie acronym for the super popular fantasy series "Harry Potter."

The series revolves around an orphaned boy-wizard named Harry Potter that attends Hogwarts, a school that teaches magic. He soon befriends Hermione and Ron and they go on many adventures together. The first book in the series was written by J.K. Rowling and published in 1997. The film adaptation features Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint as the three main characters.

An acronym often preceded by a number, which indicates the power of the engine; often utilized when describing a car, truck, or motorcycle but also used for just about anything with an engine; most widely used by men bragging about their vehicle.

On rare occasions, people may use hp to refer to a landline phone, or "handphone." This abbreviation is not used much anymore, because almost no one still uses landline phones.

However, those who have a landline installed in their house may tell you to give them a ring on their hp, rather than their cell phone. Using an hp can avoid signal loss and dropped calls ... though of course, that's guaranteed only if you also use a handphone.
