Gamers use the acronym PS2 to refer to the Sony PlayStation 2. The PS2 is (arguably) one of the world's most popular video game consoles. It is also (unarguably) the best-selling console of all time.
Sony released the first version of the PS2 in 2000; it released a slimmed-down version in 2004. Both versions remained relevant among gamers for over a decade, until Sony ceased producing the PS2 and new games for the console in 2013.
However, many PS2 games, including Final Fantasy X, Spider-Man 2, Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear Solid 3, still hold a special place in gamers' hearts. Some still play these games on their actual PS2, while others play them using PS2 emulators and ROMs.
