Unnecessary content

A term that refers to unnecessary content that appears in video games and websites.

In video games, filler is commonly added by developers to lengthen a game so it can be marketed as having a certain amount of gameplay hours. The content does not lend itself to the game narrative therefore it is unnecessary.
