Techies use LRU to mean "least recently used." Most often, this acronym refers to the files on your computer that you've accessed least recently. For example, a system scanning program may allow you to sort your files by LRU or MRU (most recently used).
However, LRU can also refer to lesser-used files you have languishing on a portable hard drive or in the cloud, or other last-used data. And, in some rare cases, you may even encounter LRU used in a non-technical context.
