What does maddux mean?

Complete game shutout with less than 100 pitches

A baseball term that describes a pitching performance by a starting pitcher that consists of a complete game (nine innings) shutout achieved by throwing less than 100 pitches.

The term originates from SP Greg Maddux who threw 13 Madduxes over his 23 year career. Zane Smith is second on the list with 7, followed by Bob Tewksbury with 6. The term may also appear as "The Maddux."
