OLPC, or One Laptop Per Child, is a non-profit that seeks to provide every child with a basic laptop, to further childhood education. It was launched in 2005 and, despite some hiccups and criticism, still exists today.
In collaboration with several tech companies, OLPC produced a few models of low-cost laptops, suitable for basic classroom use. In the past, OLPC has provided these laptops to children around the world. Currently, OLPC operates primarily in Africa, Asia, and Central America.
