Oregon Trail'r

What is an Oregon trail'r?

A person born in the late 1970s or early 1980s

An Oregon trail'r is a person born between 1977 and 1983. The name comes from the popular Oregon Trail game that the generation played in elementary school.

Oregon trail'rs have boomer parents and are on the tail end of Gen X and the beginning of the millennial generation. They possess the unique experience of growing up in the analog "old fashioned" world as it turned digital in the "new era" with the rapid progression of technology, such as the Internet, mobile phones, home video systems, and video game consoles.

While Oregon trail'r is not an official generation designation, you may hear or see people self-identify as an Oregon trail'r to refer to their unique experience. For example, they may share on social media how they remember the differences in video game consoles between when they grew up and now.

Example

My dad is an Oregon trail'r and keeps telling me to be grateful that I can do book reports without going to the library
