POAS is the action required for women to take an at-home pregnancy test. People may also use POAS to refer to an actual pregnancy test, which detects the hormone human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) in urine that women produce around six days after egg fertilization.
You will likely only see women use POAS, typically on baby and pregnancy online forums, when referring to the pregnancy test they took. For example, a woman may comment in a forum, "i've had conflicting results with my poas. anybody else have this?" Or, a woman may comment, "anyone else use a different test than poas? tia."
