This is a rather formulaic genre as it commonly revolves around a man who meets a woman, falls in love with said woman, does something stupid to lose her trust, and then performs a grand gesture at the end of the movie to win her back. Sometimes a rom com follows a woman's POV and she is the one losing the man's trust and winning it back. The main purpose of this genre is to make the audience feel good by the end of the film.
