If someone sends you "RUS?" in a chat or text message, it may stand for "Are you serious?" Most often, incredulous people use this acronym, in response to messages that they hope were sent in jest.

If your previous message was in fact serious, you can respond to RUS with IDS or srsly. If you were JJ, you can respond to RUS with JK or HHJK.
