Sip tea means "Mind your business." It is typically used to describe a person who enjoys listening and hearing gossip but does not want to share it or get involved in the drama.
The "sip tea" phrase was coined in 2018 as an alternative to "Spill the tea," which encourages people to share gossip. It comes from "Spill the T," where the "T" stands for "truth." The phrase was introduced by drag queen Lady Chablis in the 1994 book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."
Spilling tea is typically done by chatty females wanting to gossip about others, especially other women. But people that don't want to gossip, possibly thinking that they are above the primal behavior, but still want to be entertained by the gossip would instead sip tea.
