The Adventure Zone, often abbreviated as TAZ, is an actual play podcast in which Griffin, Justin, Travis, and Clint McElroy play various TTRPGs (but mostly DnD). It debuted in 2014, with the popular Balance arc.
In most campaigns, Griffin acts as the DM, while his brothers (Justin and Travis) and father (Clint) navigate through the world and story Griffin has created. At times, events spiral into unexpected hilarity and/or heartfelt seriousness, the mixture of which has earned the show a strong cult following.
In 2018, publisher First Second began adapting TAZ's Balance arc into a series of graphic novels, written by the McElroys and illustrated by Carey Pietsch. As of 2021, the TAZ podcast had begun its fourth full campaign, titled Ethersea.
