Gamers use TF2 as shorthand for Team Fortress 2, a popular team-based first-person shooter (FPS). Valve released TF2 in 2007, to nearly immediate acclaim.
Most notably, TF2 features nine distinct character classes and a cartoonish, humorous tone that sets it apart from other multiplayer FPSes, such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. For example, TF2 includes a variety of silly hats and other accessories that players can use to customize their player character.
