You might see tlkin used to mean "talking" in a variety of contexts. For example, a friend who is talking on the phone, and thus can't chat with you right now, might send "bz tlkin w/my mom, chat later." Or, a coworker sharing office gossip might say "they're tlkin about downsizing before the end of the year."
Tlkin is an expansion of tlk; both abbreviations strip talk's arguably-extraneous "a." Talking, of course, is the present progressive version of talk, used to denote that someone is speaking (or otherwise chatting) at this very moment.
