Tru is an easy and common way to abbreviate "true" - because it reads and sounds exactly the same. For this reason, you might see tru used in place of true in all sorts of places, including text, chat, forum, and social media messages.
Other than the dropped "e," the only difference between tru and true is that the former is a bit more glib than the latter. Therefore, if you're sending a formal message, or you want your message to be taken more seriously, you likely should not abbreviate true to tru.
