A trumpshake is a handshake that lasts too long and often becomes awkward for one or both participants. It comes from Donald Trump's odd style of handshake that seems to last forever, sometimes 15 -20 seconds too long.
This style of handshake may occur in social gatherings or corporate environments and usually happens between people who just met. The long handshake may be the fault of one person who comes off as a creeper or it may be a power play between both people that don't want to concede first by letting go of the other person's hand. The trumpshake is a nightmare for germaphobes.
