Zoomies is a sudden burst of energy, often in animals like dogs or cats. When a pet gets the zoomies, they might sprint in circles, dart around the house, or jump on furniture for seemingly no reason. While the term doesn't come from a specific creator, it began gaining popularity in the early 2000s through pet owner communities, Internet forums, and later, viral videos on social media.

The technical term for "zoomies" behavior is Frenetic Random Activity Periods (FRAPs), but "zoomies" became the fun, relatable version that stuck. Pet owners, animal lovers, and even veterinarians have adopted the term to describe the excitable behavior.

In recent years, "zoomies" has also been adopted humorously by people to describe their own hyperactive or restless moments, like running around after a long day of sitting still or getting hyped up with too much caffeine. You'll often see it used in captions or comments online: "I had the zoomies after that energy drink," or "My cat gets the zoomies every night at 10."
