Juiced

1. What does juiced mean?

Excited

When someone is very excited, you may describe them as "juiced." The term comes from the "energy" definition of juice (like juice in a battery) to refer to people who are filled with juice (filled with energy).

For example, if you are excited about a get-together with your crush, your friend may say, "Wow, you are really juiced for this date!" Or, you may be excited about your Super Bowl party and post a picture of your food with the caption, "So juiced for the big game today. It's gonna be great!"

Example

I'm so juiced about the concert tonight!
Me, too! I can't wait any longer

2. What does juiced mean in sports?

Muscular from steroids

In sports, particularly baseball, a player who is muscular due to steroid use is "juiced" (past tense of juicing). For example, you may argue whether or not 1990s slugger Mark McGwire should be in the Hall of Fame, "There's no way he should make the HOF, he's juiced!"

Juicing became a significant problem in baseball in the 1990s as players took performance-enhancing drugs to play better and stay healthier. Therefore, many baseball historians call this era the "Steroid Era" or "Juiced Era."

Alternative meaning

While most baseball fans and analysts use juiced regarding steroids, they may also use juiced in other ways. For example, a commentator may say the "bases are juiced" (when a runner occupies each base) or claim that baseballs are juiced if players hit many home runs.

Example

I know that Clemens juiced, but he still holds a special place in my heart
Yeah, he was so dominant in the early 2000s

Intoxicated

While juiced may mean "excited," it may also mean "intoxicated," likely from drugs or alcohol. In this context, a person is filled with "juice," which is another name for the substance filling their body.

For example, if your uncle shows up to the family gathering intoxicated, your cousin may tell you, "Steer clear of Uncle Buck, he's juiced pretty good from the Jack Daniels right now." Or, your friend may message you, "I can't wait to get juiced with you tonight!"

Juiced is just one way to refer to intoxication in slang. Some examples include lit, marinated, and sloshed.
