Yeet

1. Why do people yell Yeet?

To throw something out of rage

Yeet is a nonsensical exclamation yelled by a person when throwing something out of anger. The tantrum typically occurs when a person loses a competition, usually when gaming online.

The phrase is often used by tweens, teens, and young adults who struggle with managing their anger when losing. Some objects that are commonly thrown during the tantrum include game controllers, devices, monitors, chairs, computer mice, beverages, and food.

The phrase gained popularity in the 2010s and it has murky origins. Some believe it was first used by a person shooting a 3-pointer in basketball, which then morphed into being a go-to exclamation by raging gamers. The gaming community widely adopted the expression, which doesn't actually mean anything. Along with being yelled by frustrated gamers, it is also commonly used in humorous memes depicting frustration.
