What does AEW stand for?

All Elite Wrestling

Wrestling fans use AEW to refer to the All Elite Wrestling league. A group of wrestlers known as The Elite founded this pro wrestling circuit in January 2019. AEW has gone on to become the U.S.'s second-largest pro wrestling league, behind WWE.

In 2018, wrestlers Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks organized a wrestling event called All In. The event proved so popular that Rhodes and The Young Bucks decided to launch their own pro wrestling league, featuring several other popular young wrestlers. The founding trio chose to serve as co-Executive Vice Presidents, along with wrestler Kenny Omega. They were joined by investor, president, and CEO Tony Khan, and his father, investor Shahid Khan.

AEW has aired on TNT, TBS, and YouTube, and its televised and live events continue to draw crowds that compete with WWE. Some other notable AEW wrestlers include:

  • CM Punk
  • Thunder Rosa
  • Orange Cassidy
  • Chris Jericho
