Aggro is short for aggressive. This abbreviation originated within gaming culture, to describe aggressive strategies and gameplay. Thus, it is still used most often by gamers.
For example, a Magic: The Gathering (MTG) player may describe their deck as an aggro deck. This means the player's deck is meant to fire off a swift sequence of spells that brings games to an end quickly.
However, as gaming culture has permeated pop culture, aggro has permeated even non-gamers' slang lexicons. So, you may see aggro stand in for aggressive on social media and forums as well. For example, if a Twitter user is acting overly angry, other users may take them to task for "going aggro."
