ARMY is the passionate fandom of BTS, an incredibly popular Korean boy band. The band officially established the name of their devoted fanbase as ARMY on July 9, 2013, after releasing "2 Cool 4 Skool," their first single.
After releasing their first single, BTS picked up fans of all ages throughout the 2010s. These fans became incredibly devoted to the music group, acting like an actual army with their commitment, strength, and coordination.
ARMY has made itself known worldwide, especially online, attending concerts, purchasing merchandise, defending the band and BTS fans, and even pursuing social and political causes. One example of ARMY's passion is when they disrupted a Trump rally in June 2020 because they believed his messaging diverted from BTS' values. In this case, thousands of ARMY members registered to attend a Trump rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma but did not show up, leaving the actual attendance much lower than expected.
