Back nine refers to holes 10 through 18 of an 18-hole golf course. It is preceded by the "back nine," which refers to holes 1 through 9.
Since 18-hole golf courses are commonly divided into two halves for scoring purposes, the front nine and back nine phrases come into play. The back nine is also known as "heading in" to the clubhouse.
