Dadication is when a man is incredibly dedicated to being a good father, doing everything from coaching his kids' sports teams to braiding his daughters' hair to making breakfast in the morning.
While the term has been floating around for years as a clever play on words, it didn't gain popularity until fall of 2020. In September of that year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families (ACF), the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse, and the Ad Council aired PSAs centered on dadication.
You may see it in social media posts accompanying an image, video, or written story showing the dedication of a particular father. You may also hear it in-person when someone is praising a dad for being so invested in his children.
The peak time for dadication acknowledgments is on or around Father's Day in June or the dad's birthday. You may also see the term used in the context of being dedicated, or loyal to your dad.
