Girl Code

The girl code is a loose, unwritten agreement between women that guides their interactions with each other. It is the female version of the bro code held by guys, specifically bros.

You may hear women invoke the girl code when other females are not abiding by it or to remind them when they need support. For example, a woman may call out her friend for going after her love interest and say, "Girl code says that he's off limits. I marked my territory." Or, a woman may feel crummy after seeing her ex engaged and may reference the girl code for an emergency hang-out with her friends to console her.

• Don't divulge secrets between women, especially to the opposite sex.
• Don't date an ex of a friend.
• Don't pursue a friend's love interest (crush) .
• Cheer on a friend's hobbies and love interests.
